Your safety is my top priority. Certain medical conditions and medications can affect the tattooing process and the healing outcome. Please review the following policies to ensure a safe and successful experience:
Medical Conditions That May Prevent Tattooing:
If you have any of the following conditions, tattooing may not be safe or suitable for you:
Heart Conditions (e.g., heart disease, pacemakers, or other cardiac issues)
Diabetes (specifically if uncontrolled or prone to slow healing)
Hemophilia or other blood clotting disorders
HIV or Hepatitis
Severe Allergies (e.g., latex, ink, or anesthetics)
Epilepsy (risk of seizures during the procedure)
Pregnancy or Nursing:
Tattoos are not recommended during pregnancy or within 6 months postpartum or post-weaning due to hormonal changes and increased risk of infection and direct effects on the baby.
Cancer Treatments: Tattoos are not recommended during chemotherapy or radiation due to compromised immunity and delayed healing.
Medications That May Affect Tattooing:
Certain medications can interfere with the tattooing process or healing. These include:
Antibiotics: Can increase skin sensitivity and affect healing.
Blood Thinners: Includes aspirin, warfarin, and certain supplements (e.g., fish oil, vitamin E).
Accutane or Minomycin (or any tetracycline-related medications): These can cause skin thinning and adverse reactions.
Steroids or Immunosuppressants: May delay healing or increase the risk of infection.
Consultation with a Physician:
If you have any of the above conditions or are on medications that might affect the tattoo process, you must:
Consult your physician before booking an appointment.
Obtain a written approval note from your doctor confirming that it is safe for you to proceed with tattooing.
Honesty and Disclosure:
It is essential to disclose any medical conditions, medications, or treatments on the tattoo form before booking.
Failure to disclose or late disclosure (e.g., on the appointment day) may result in cancellation, forfeiture of your deposit, and potential legal action.
Waiver Requirement:
All clients must sign a waiver document before their appointment, confirming:
Their medical condition and medication status.
Understanding of the risks associated with tattooing under their specific circumstances.
Thank you for helping ensure a safe and enjoyable tattooing experience. If you have any questions or concerns about this policy, please contact me directly before booking.
Your physical and mental state greatly impacts your tattoo experience. To ensure the best results and a safe environment for both you and the artist, the following policies apply:
Alcohol and Drugs
Alcohol Use:
Alcohol thins the blood, which can lead to:
Excessive bleeding during the tattoo process
Difficulty in pigment retention
Longer healing time
Arriving hungover affects your tolerance and comfort, making the experience less enjoyable for you and more challenging for the artist.
Policy: If signs of hangover or recent alcohol consumption are detected, the artist reserves the right to refuse service, and your deposit will be forfeited.
Drug Use:
Definition of Drugs: Any substance that alters your mental or physical state, including but not limited to:
Recreational drugs (e.g., marijuana, cocaine, ecstasy, etc.)
Overuse of Prescription medication not disclosed to the artist (see medical conditions policy)
Over-the-counter medications with sedative or blood-thinning effects
Policy: If any signs of drug use are noticed, including impaired judgment, erratic behaviour, or physical symptoms, the appointment will be cancelled immediately, and your deposit will be forfeited.
Pre-Tattoo Preparation
Sleep: Ensure you get a good night’s rest before your appointment. Proper sleep enhances pain tolerance and helps you remain relaxed during the procedure.
Hydration and Nutrition: Drink water and eat a substantial meal beforehand to stabilize your energy levels.
By booking an appointment, you agree to comply with this policy. The artist has the right to refuse service to ensure a safe, professional, and enjoyable experience for all parties involved.
Use caution for at least 1 month prior to your tattoo appointment. Be sure to also avoid direct sun, tanning, chemical peels, or any other procedures that can damage your skin. Your artist will do all necessary skin preparation, such as shaving, before beginning your tattoo. Shaving the area that will be tattooed yourself before arriving to your tattoo appointment is not recommended. You could irritate your skin, making it impossible to tattoo over the irritation.
If you show up with visible sunburn, tanned, or with the area damaged the artist will refuse the service and kept the deposit to cover the lost of the schedule.
It is your responsibility to prepare and care for your skin prior to your appointment. Don't book an appointment if you're not committed to follow the pre-care.
Preparing for your tattoo appointment is vital so that your tattoo has the best possible healing process. Caring for a fresh tattoo after an appointment is necessary. Unfortunately, many people don’t put the same care into getting their skin ready for the appointment, which takes a major toll on the final result. Hydrating, moisturizing, and avoiding irritation will ensure that your skin is in the best possible condition to be tattooed. Tattoo application is key, but a proper combination of both pre care and post care is just as important.
Hydrate And Moisturize Regularly Before Your Tattoo Appointment
Be sure to drink plenty of water. Drink at least 1-2 liters a day leading up to your tattoo appointment. Properly hydrating before your tattoo appointment helps ensure that your skin is properly hydrated as well. Having properly hydrated skin is a huge factor in helping to guarantee that your tattoo will heal well. Staying hydrated will also help you to withstand longer tattoo sessions. Taking time to moisturize the area 1-2 times a day will help with moisture and skin health as well. However, do not apply any creams or lotions to the area on the day of your tattoo appointment.
Is it hard to tattoo over numbing cream?
Numbing cream usually uses epinephrine (most commonly known as adrenaline) or a similar ingredient to keep the lidocaine (the active numbing ingredient), localized. This constricts the cells making it harder for the lidocaine to flow out of the area. It also makes it harder to push ink between those skin cells.
Specially for small intricate tattoos I dislike working over numbed areas.
If you still want to use these are my recommendations:
You must make sure to inform your artist & dermatologist and apply at least 60-90 minutes before your session. Do a test path, some people have allergic reactions to it. Depending on your design your artist can't guarantee the final healed result of the tattoo and a paid touch-up session in this case will be necessary. Numbing creams can alter the texture of a client's skin, making it “spongy” after the cream is applied. Others report that it makes the skin not stretch evenly, become mushy, or form raised hive-like bumps.
The numbing effect may last from 2- to a maximum of 4 hours. After that it should be reapplied.
Misuse, overuse, or overdose can lead to a number of serious health problems and even death. Consult with your physician before use.
